Emissions TestingATDS' Ontario, CA. Laboratory conducts emissions testing on light and medium duty vehicles for EPA and CARB certification as well as engineering development. We offer FTP, European, Japanese and other driving cycles, point source running loss, enhanced evaporative testing, and NMOG by HP-LC for gasoline
vehicles. ATDS also conducts electric vehicle range testing and emissions testing on
natural gas and alcohol fueled vehicles. A modal analysis train allows direct measurement
of engine out emissions and catalyst converter efficiency.
Our facilities are ready to conduct testing on a wide-range of vehicles and engines from small, off-road to large truck diesels and everything in between. The new 48" electric dynamometer, Bag Mini-diluter and state of the art analysis bench, extend our capability for certification level testing to Tier 2/LEV-II and beyond. An intensive Quality Control Program, complimented by continuous calibration and inspection of all laboratory instruments, ensures accuracy and repeatability of results. Whether your emissions testing needs are Certification related or for a California Executive Order for Aftermarket parts sales, contact ATDS. Test results are provided by computer print-out; if faster service is required, results can be faxed or delivered by e-mail via the internet.
The Running Loss portion of the Enhanced Evaporative Test Sequence is conducted in ATDS point-source test facility in Test Cell #1. Two custom built, computer controlled, canister loading benches allow for the pre-conditioning of up to 5 canisters at one time. ATDS is the only independent laboratory in Southern California experienced in Enhanced Evaporative Testing.
Quality Control
All calibration and test data are reviewed by a quality auditor to verity that procedures have been correctly followed and that the data have been accurately recorded and transcribed. Quality auditors have the authority to reject any and all test data. Test vehicles are not released to clients until test results have been reviewed and approved by the quality auditor.
Routine periodic calibrations are performed in accordance with requirements of and at least as often as required by the Code of Federal Regulations. All analytical Instruments are calibrated with NIST traceable gases certified by the provider. The instruments are calibrated at 11 points (including zero) across each range using a precision gas divider. EPA Protocol gases are routinely tested on all analyzers to ensure continued accuracy and repeatability of results.
ATDS regularly participates in correlation testing including periodic correlation vehicle tests which provide cross checks between major manufacturers, EPA's Ann Arbor laboratory and the California ARB. ATDS' test data is routinely accepted by EPA and the ARB for certification and enforcement activities and by major manufacturers for their development and surveillance activities.
